Bahamas Redux – the Recovering Abacos

We take the bank less traveled to the hurricane battered Abacos in our 2021 return to the Bahamas; but first we have goodbyes to say, clutches to replace and the strong gravitational pull of the Florida Coast to overcome!

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Plan B

It’s about time I sat down at the chart table and tapped out a new post, right? I teased in my last post that we may have to head back to the states … and we did.
Our Plan B report covers a lot of time and distance, so we’re going to let pics and short video snippets tell the story. Strap into the helm and let’s go!

... of course, the freshest stuff is on Instagram!

Today we got boarded by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, just a random boarding to check that our papers and boat were in order. Professional and nice people! We also got some fishing tips 😂
This is the moon rise tonight... Almost looks like a sunset!
20 minute timelapse of Barbara's dinner catch today! Nice job, baby! #doesntgetfresherthanthis
After a short hike to the top of Boo Boo Hill (in the Exuma Land and Sea Park) to find our boat sign that we left there last year (we found it!), we took in the view of the other side of the island from where we were anchored. It was a perfect day, nice breeze and lots of sunshine. Then the winds came...and seemed to never want to relent ! Glad we got in the hike before the wind, and we are continuing our journey South - and yes, it's everything it's cracked up to be - and then some ❤️🌴
Got a visitor as soon as well got to Exuma Park❤️🌴 pretty cool welcoming party 😁
Today we went to one of the most beautiful beaches we have seen (we took our dinghy but seriously we could have swam from our boat). And we were the only ones there. If you haven't been to the Exumas, it's hard to imagine but there are hundreds, if not thousands of beaches that are just begging to be explored...with no one else is in sight. No one shaking their sandy towel upwind of you, and no noise but the ocean waves. Just peaceful, tranquil, turquoise waters that leave you in awe! 🌴
This is a picture of our anchor alarm software. It records where our boat position is while we are at anchor so we know we stay within our "circle" and aren't dragging anchor. I thought it was sending me a message, because it etched a distinct "D" in our path! My son's name begins with D, made me think of him, and yes, I checked on him and he is surviving the craziness in Dallas. When he saw the photo, he said "I'm everywhere you go." ❤️ Melted my heart ☺️ I miss both my kiddos 😭but know they are living their best adult life now. @dalton_chad and @bbrannan1 thank you for encouraging us to go for our dreams...I'm so proud of you both!
We made it back to the Exumas! This is our anchorage off Saddle Cay. Peaceful and calm, but no joy on fishing 😔 Instead we visited the beach and close by sandbar that's only walkable during low tide. Thankful for the beautiful weather and sunny skies 🌴☀️
Got a car here in the Bahamas - this will be interesting! Wheel on opposite side of the car and driving on the opposite side of the road 😂 I'm so confused🥴
